The Ethiopian Elderly Women Project, Inc. (hereafter the Project) is a non-profit charitable organization.  Its vision is to give Hope and Support to the distressed and the underprivileged elderly Ethiopian women.  These women have basic needs that are not met and they are also facing problems such as poor health, loneliness and humiliation.

Ethiopians extend their hands generously to older people and there is also family and community support. However, the need far outweighs the ability of individuals to help all.

Most elderly women are willing to work even though they have poor health conditions. However, when they travel from place to place to engage in income generating activities, they are most of the time victims of tragic circumstances. Those elderly people who are sick or disabled are dependent on their children, family members or their neighbours, even though these people themselves, are struggling to improve their own condition. 

Recognizing the problems facing these vulnerable women and to help them live comfortably in their individual neighbourhoods, the Ethiopian Elderly Women Project is established.
